Paddock vs. Paper

Looking back to the week just past, Flying Silks (pictured) made his seasonal reappearance at Leicester on Tuesday and, having his first start in the colours of Trevor and Carol Coffen, ran a race full of promise to finish fourth without being given an unduly hard time by Neil Callan. The three-year-old son of Barathea is sure to benefit from the run and, now that he has his handicap mark, can be expected to improve further in his next few starts.

On Saturday we sent Street Power up to Haydock. The heavy going was far from certain to suit him, but he ran a race full of credit to finish fourth. Due to the prevailing going, it proved very difficult indeed for any horse on the card to come from off the pace, which is Street Power's running style, so it is to his great credit that he came from near last position to challenge in the final 1f,

We are sending runners out up and down the country this week, starting with two tomorrow at Nottingham and Leicester. Count Trevisio runs tomorrow

Tomorrow we are likely to send Count Trevisio (pictured on the far side of Chief Exec) to run in the 1m handicap at Bath (20:10). This son of Danehill has unquestionably been frustrating this season, but hopefully this return to the turf can rekindle some of his old spark. Other possible runners this week include New Leyf, Jung and Flying Silks who all hold entries at Doncaster on Saturday. We would want the ground to be no worse than good to firm for them to run and so we're keeping our fingers crossed for some rain.
