*News Update*. DENTON won tonight at Wolverhampton to get his hatrick for the yard. Full report on Tuesday.
Normality was restored to Horses First last week with Jeremy returning from his trip to the Keeneland Sales in Kentucky, at which he purchased a yearling colt by E Dubai. Unfortunately for him, he also came back with some sort of illness that has confined him to bed since Saturday. However, the show must go on and with the latter end of this week looking set to be a busy one on the racing front, Jeremy will be taking every legal medication under the sun in an effort to be back fighting fit by then.
Our first runner in the week gone by was one that we had looked forward to for quite a while, the racecourse debut of the Frank Lisewski-owned Winifred Jo (pictured above).
We have a day to look forward to next Friday with us likely to send a large team of horses out. Our first possible runner of the day is the progressive Medicean Man in the valuable 6f three-year-old handicap at Ascot. The Stuart & Kate Dobb-owned gelding (pictured) has won three of his last five starts and looks to have plenty more to offer. While we are very keen to run the son of Medicean, the prevailing weather is not helping us out as the horse does not want the going too firm. Any rain would be much appreciated and Stuart has already started his raindance.
As Jeremy prepares to jet off to the Keeneland Sales at Kentucky on Tuesday evening, business will continue as usual at Horses First in the week ahead and we look to have a number of live chances. All eyes will be on Lingfield today as we send Yvonne Evelyn (pictured left) there for the extended 11f handicap on the turf. The daughter of Cozzene returned to her very best when finishing a slightly-unlucky third on the all-weather track at Lingfield last month, missing the break completely before circling the entire field to lead and battling on gamely once headed. We are going to take measures to help prevent a repeat of her problems in the stalls and if she breaks out on terms as hoped, she should be bang in contention in what is a competitive contest. There is still the chance to be involved with Yvonne Evelyn for just
With Kevin and Kelly on holidays this week I have been entrusted with the news. Unfortunately it has been a relatively quiet one on the racing front. Street Power (pictured) was the leading contender at Lingfield last week however only managed to run behind a horse that I think is definitely capable of winning a good race. I think we learnt a thing or two about him and he is now having a short break before being aimed at a trip to Dubai.
The Stuart & Kate Dobb-owned Medicean Man has proven himself to be a relentlessly progressive sort in recent months and showed that he is still improving with an impressive win at Ripon on Monday. The three-year-old (pictured) was, as he has tended to be in the past, slightly slow to start and to find his stride, but he was soon travelling well in the rear of the far-side group. As the race began in earnest, Medicean Man showed what has become his trademark turn of foot, quickening up in very taking fashion to lead with 1f to race, idling in front but never in any danger of being caught, coming home 1
