Prince Of Dance looks to be all set to make his debut for the yard at Goodwood tomorrow. The Danehill Dancer colt (pictured left) will line up in the Group 3 Supreme Stakes at 3.55 under Steve Drowne. We took the decision not to run him at York last weekend, as he needs a bit of cut in the ground and wasn't going to get it. With tomorrow's track soft at the moment, we are all hoping for a big run from the horse.
Chief Exec and New Leyf both ran very good races this week, both coming third. Chief, usually happy to follow the field and then come with a late run over seven furlongs, showed what the wonders of a break can do when he flew the stalls and led over six at Lingfield. He looked like he might win, before just being passed close to home. It was lovely to see the old boy enjoying himself and hopefully there are races to be won with him this year. New Leyf ran very well under Jamie Spencer yesterday at Newmarket, just finding two too good. He will be winning again soon.
Wednesday 25th August- Wolverhampton With Two
Tomorrow Stuart and Kate Dobb's Chief Exec makes his return from a break and heads to Lingfield. The eight-year-old gelding (pictured left) was Jeremy's first UK winner and is a firm favourite at the yard. After having a few months off, he will no doubt come on for tomorrow's run but it is good to have him back in action. We have got a a fairly busy second half to this week. This morning we met Steve Drowne at Kempton to gallop four unraced horses and give them a look at the track. Tomorrow we got to Lingfield and then Friday we head to Ffos Las with Denton (who will be bidding for another hat-trick under Simon Pearce) and Newmarket with New Leyf and Mrs Penny. On Saturday Sutton Veny could go to Newmarket and Sunday could see Prince Of Dance make his debut for the yard, after having to miss his York engagement last week due to a lack of rain. Ground permitting, he is set to line up in te Group 3 at Goodwood.

Wednesday 19th August- Wolverhampton With TwoWe were looking forward to running New Leyf at Chepstow tomorrow evening but with that meeting being called off due to ground damage, our next runner will be Prince Of Dance on Friday. The lovely Danehill Dancer colt (pictured left) has found himself in a hot-looking listed race at York but hopefully the ground will have the cut in it that he needs and he will run a big race. Neil Callan takes the ride for Five Horses Racing. Saturday is a very busy day for us. Medicean Man, Thaliwarru and Hedonist all go to Ripon. Rahya Cass runs at Chester and Flying Silks looks set to line up at Bath, providing there is sufficient rain.

Monday 16th August- Wolverhampton With Two
Sutton Veny ran her usual gutsy race on Saturday when she contested the Greys Race at Newmarket under Steve Drowne (pictured left riding Delaware Dancer in a gallop at Kempton last week). The brave grey battled home in the heavy conditions (which were unsuitable for her), under top weight to finish fifth, beaten just over a length. She was giving best part of two stone to the winner and runner up and we were all delighted with her. It is a shame that the conditions turned wet so quickly but after praying for a bit of rain for the last month, we shouldn't complain too loudly.
Today Delaware Dancer makes her debut for her owners at Wolverhampton. Jeremy likes the Danehill Dancer filly and it is great to get her to the track. Also running there is Ivory Silk, who is making her return from a break. She is in good form and goes well fresh, although she does look up against it with her current handicap mark.

Tuesday 10th August- Kempton Gallops
We are taking advantage of having a quiet week in terms of racing (our next runners are Sutton Veny and Shahwardi on Saturday) by spending a couple of mornings taking horses to Kempton for racecourse gallops. Today we took nine to be galloped by Steve Drowne and Simon Pearce. All went well, with Medicean Man and Prince Of Dance working very nicely. We will head back to Kempton on Thursday morning with more horses to gallop. The photo, above, shows Simon on Ivory Silk and Steve on Rahya Cass.
Tomorrow we are looking forward to a visit from Monty Roberts, who is coming to the farm to do some work with a couple of horses.

Thursday 5th August- Haydock And Newmarket
*NEWS UPDATE* Denton wins at Newmarket*
Today we head north to Haydock, where Lord Cornwall and Hill Tribe are set to run this evening. Lord Cornwall (pictured left, on the left) is first off at 6.20 in the maiden under Steve Drowne. OTI Racing's charge has been gelded since his last run and we hope to see some improvement from him. Steve also rides Hill Tribe at 8.30, in the handicap over one mile two. Tony Bloom's mare is in great form and we expect a good showing from her. In between the two Haydock runners, we have Denton racing at Newmarket. The Montjeu gelding (who is currently for sale for £25,000) is due off at 7.15 under a penalty, following on from his Haydock win last week. Simon Pearce, who has won twice on the horse, takes the ride. Simon also rides Royal Riviera for us at Newmarket tomorrow.

Tuesday 3rd August- Barbieri Makes Her Debut
Barbieri ran encouragingly last night at Windsor. She showed promising early pace before getting a bump mid-race and weakening late on. Steve Drowne was pleased with the filly and thought she'd improve vastly for the experience. We have no runners today but we were visited by Barry Taylor, who bred Medicean Man. Barry has visited the yard a few times to catch up with the laid-back chestnut and was particularly impressed with his Ascot win. It is always lovely to welcome breeders to the yard and we hope Medicean Man will be providing Barry, as well as his owner Stuart Dobb, with plenty more exciting days at the races. Our next runners will be out on Friday, when Denton could well be out under a penalty at Newmarket. We also have Hill Tribe and Lord Cornwall on track to go to Haydock.

Monday 2nd August- Barbieri Makes Her Debut
New Leyf ran a very good race on Saturday, finishing second at Newmarket. It was an encouraging return to form from the Kheleyf gelding, and The Racing Post commented "there are more races to be won with him". He provided an exciting finish for owner James Burdett, who watched the race and then had to quickly jump in a plane and fly off to a wedding. The horse has come home well and will be looking to go one better in the coming weeks. Barbieri makes her debut tonight at Windsor under Steve Drowne. The Encosta De Lago two-year-old (pictured) is a nice sort and will no doubt improve for getting a run under her belt. She lines up in the six furlong maiden at 6.10 for OTI Racing.

Saturday 31st July- Two Runners At Haydock
Denton won in emphatic style at Haydock last night, proving he is better than ever. The lightly-raced son of Montjeu was given a lovely ride by Simon Pearce and we look forward to the rest of the season with him. He is currently for sale for £25,000 to stay in the yard. For more information, email Kelly@horsesfirstracing.com. This evening we will be represented by the James Burdett-owned New Leyf at Newmarket (5:40pm). The son of Kheleyf progressed notably on the all-weather earlier in the year and while his most recent runs look disappointing on paper, we since diagnosed and treated some issues with him that were holding him back. He seems in good form at home and while he can be expected to come on from the run, he looks well handicapped on the turf and it wouldn't be a big surprise if he were to run well.
Friday 30th July- Two Runners At Haydock
We head north again today with Denton and Law Of Attraction set to run at Haydock. Denton is first off at 8.20 and looks to have an excellent chance in the handicap over one mile two. The son of Montjeu will make a fantastic dual purpose horse down the line. Law Of Attraction follows Denton at 8.55, running over an extended mile. He looks to have a tougher task on his hands and we'd ideally like to run him over a shorter trip, however there are limited options for him. The horse looks capable of picking up a couple of races and we are hoping for a good showing from him.
