More winning sires

27th May 2008

The pedigrees of some of our two year olds received a further boost last week when Haafhd and Stroll had their first winners from their first crop of two year olds. Representing Haafhd was Crystal Moments, who won at Sandown on her racecourse debut. Our own two year old by Haafhd is going well at home and progressing nicely. Despite having quite a few chestnut horses in the yard, he is instantly recognisably by the splash of white under his belly. We are gradually upping his work and aim to race him later on this season. He is pictured walking off the flat gallop alongside our Barathea gelding. Stroll's first winner came in Italy and did it in style, storming home by nine and a half lengths. We have recently purchased a lovely-looking Stroll colt from the breeze up sales who we hope will inherit his family's winning ways.

After seeing all the staff congregate for a tea break earlier on, I realised that if I just introduce you to one a week I'll be here for quite some time. Therefore this week I'm going to feature two new members of staff. Pictured below with Hopeful Purchase are two members of our groundstaff. On the left is Abbie Prin, 20, who is Hopeful Purchase's number one fan and on the right is Zoe Mcellan, 18, who loves animals and is planning to become a vet. Abbie is about to start her NVQ in Racehorse care and is keen to progress in the racing industry. We are always looking out for talented, keen, hard-working members of staff. If you are interested in working for Horses First Racing please take a look at the careers section of our website.

The new barn is exploding before our eyes, as you can see from the photo below. It should only be two or three weeks before the whole barn is finished and ready for some new horses. The lucky horses that make it their home will certainly have a room with a view!

We have had Elanar Productions filming at the farm for the past few weeks. They are making a promotional dvd for us and have got some fantastic footage so far. When it is completed we will put some clips from it up on our site for everyone to see. The photo below is a still taken from the scene featuring our hill gallops.
