After days of glorious sunny weather the rain has finally arrived. It has come just in time to soften the ground at Worcester for tonight's meeting, which allows us to run Silent Dream in the 7.20 there. The going is now good, good to soft in places, which at this time of the year, for a horse that needs a bit of a cut in the ground, couldn't be better. Dream has been off the track for nearly two years and will undoubtedly come on for tonight's run, however he has been schooling well at home (see picture) and he's a bit of a favourite. It is lovely to have him racing again.
After balloting and hard ground we ended up with just the one runner last week, when Street Power went to Salisbury on Saturday night. The three year old Street Cry colt (pictured on the gallops with Monticelli) ran pretty greenly in the six furlong maiden and seemed to find the trip too short. He came out of the race well and will be back out soon, probably over a mile. Also out soon should be the veteran Northern Endeavour. He could run at Bangor on Friday, although it is the same old story of there being too many entries to be sure of him getting a run. The following week we could be going double-handed to Bath but I'll update you on those runners next week.
The Duke of Marmalade (pictured below) landed the King George on Saturday in a cracking race. For those of you that took the advice to back him at all prices from 5-1 to 5-2 you will have enjoyed the brilliant race even more. Since starting to give a few selections we have so far gone unbeaten and if you had let £100 roll over on each pick you'd now be looking at a bankroll of around £2,100 . The picks so far have been Henrythenavigator 4/6 at Ascot, Flying Winner 4/6, Nadal to win Wimbledon 5/4 and the Duke on Saturday at a conservative early price of 5/2. So folks my advice today is pop the £100 back in your wallet and put all the remaining winnings back on Henrythenavigator tomorrow at Goodwood in the Sussex Stakes. He'll be around 1/2 fav but Henry may not just win but we could see something special.

We had some very special visitors at the yard this week. Olia, 17, and Yulia, 12, are from Belarus and are victims of the Chernobyl disaster. Chernobyl was the world's worst nuclear disaster and the effect on the children there has been devastating. The Chernobyl Children Life Line is a charity that provides the children of Belarus with sponsor families in the western world and our Office Administrator, Debbie Bailey, sponsors Olia. Sponsor families agree to allow the child to come and stay with them for a month and it is estimated that eating nourishing food, not being exposed to radiation and breathing clean air for even a month can help add to a child's life expectancy. Both Olia and Yulia had a good look around the yard and were particularly taken with Stamford Street (pictured above with the girls).
