A Huge Effort From New Leyf

22nd April 2010

Last night saw New Leyf produce a huge effort at Kempton, just being beaten a neck by the smart-looking Crown Choice. The two horses pulled over three lengths clear of the rest of the field and it looks to have been a great run, although there's nothing that Jeremy hates more than being narrowly beaten into 2nd. James Burdett's horse has come home without a problem and is enjoying an easy day on the Seawalker and in the paddock. He could be out again at Ascot on May 8th.

Today we send two runners and Assistant Trainer Coops up to Southwell. British Sea Power contests the maiden over seven furlongs for The Resurrection Partners. The horse ran green and as if a step up in trip would be of benefit on his debut at Ffos Las. We're not totally sure that the course will suit him but, providing he copes with it, he should come on from his last run. Confuchias races for Stuart and Kate Dobb in the claimer and we hope he will leave his poor last run behind him to put in the performance we feel he is capable of.

Tomorrow Flying Silks goes to Wolverhampton. Trevor and Carol Coffen's horse (pictured) is in good form and we really wanted to run him on the turf but with him needing an ease in the ground, we were going to be waiting a while and he therefore takes his chance on the all-weather.
