North, East And Over The Irish Sea

15th July 2010

We head to Ireland tonight to run Shahwardi at Leopardstown in the listed race over 14 furlongs. The Lando colt is still being targeted at The Melbourne Cup and we are hoping he can follow on from the career-best effort he produced at Newmarket last time out, when he placed third in a listed race, tying with Man Of Iron. He carries a 3lb penalty for an earlier listed win in France but we are hoping for a big run form him under Steve Drowne. The race is due off at 9.05.

Tomorrow we head up north with two runners. Sulis Minerva runs at Haydock for Richard Page. The filly lines up in the five furlong handicap under Jamie Spencer and we are hoping for a good run from her. The same can be said for Trevor & Carol Coffen's Flying Silks, who was desperately unlucky in a photo finish on his last run. He contests the one mile handicap at Pontefract, also under Jamie Spencer.

Saturday is firmly marked in the Sutton Veny Syndicate's diaries, as their lovely filly, Sutton Veny lines up at Newmarket. She will be partnered by Adam Kirby, who notched up a hat-trick on her before she had a short break. There will be plenty of supporters at the July course shouting for them to return to winning ways, following her promising third last time out at Lingfield.
