We have two possible runners to look out for this week. Eleanor Eloise is all set to line up at Lingfield tomorrow in the Median Auction Maiden Stakes at 1.45. The race is run over 6 furlongs on the All Weather surface. Now she has turned 4, 'Ellie' (pictured in the school) will be carrying a bit more weight than on her previous 2 runs (an 11llb increase) but she will no doubt have learned a lot from her previous outings and we are hopeful she will run well. Liam Jones retains the ride on her. The other horse set for a race is Mutual Respect who holds an entry at Chepstow on Friday. The meeting is sadly a bit doubtful due to the large volume of rain that is apparently on the way but if it goes ahead the horse should run and go well.

On Saturday Iain and Mary Hebbard from our village Sutton Veny visited the yard to watch Paradigm Shift work. They have just bought a 10% share in the horse (pictured below with Mary and her daughter Catherine) and are looking forward to him making his debut on the track early next month. There are still 3 shares available in this syndicate and there are more details on the marketplace page. If you are want to be involved with a horse and you are an exceptionally nice person (we are careful to only have lovely people involved in our partnerships!) please don't hesitate to contact our syndicate manager Kelly Baker.

Another of our two year olds came into work this week. Our Danetime colt (out of Tumbleweed Pearl) has started cantering in the school and is going well. He is a nice sort (see photo) with good straight action. His breeding suggests that he should develop into a nice horse as he is the half-brother to Gilded, the filly who won the Queen Mary Stakes at Ascot in 2006 beating Simply Perfect. What a prospect this fellow could be!

With lots of horses heading to the races in the coming months we have invested in a smart four horse lorry to get us there and back in style. Newly appointed Travelling Head Lad, Tom Dewhurst, will be in charge of the vehicle and its occupants, having recently completed and passed his LGV test. Taking Eleanor Eloise to Lingfield tomorrow will be his first job in his new role.

The weather this week has been fairly extreme to say the least. We've had a bit of sun, gale-force winds, plenty of rain and even a bit of snow thrown into the mix. The latter caused a fair bit of excitement in the Gask household as it was the first time the kids had seen snow. Even Jeremy (pictured below) managed to stop muttering about the cold for a while and enjoy it.

This week's quote is an old saying I've heard over the years but I have no idea of the source, or indeed if there is one. It refers to the excitement and hopes that anyone who has ever owned a young horse will have experienced:
"No matter how bad things may be no one has ever committed suicide owning an un-raced 2 year old"
So if you know anyone on the edge give us call and we'll help save them!
I am off on holiday for the next two weeks and so guest writing the news will be none other than Mr Jeremy Gask himself
