  • we hope to see some improvement with him. FINE FINALE is our final runner of the day
  • we have an early start at Lingfield this morning with YOU GOT THE LOVE. She will be assisted by blinkers for the first time today as her attitude towards racing has not yet impressed. We hope she will show a little improvement on her fourth racecourse appearance. TOGA TIGER makes his debut for the yard at Lingfield after time off with an injury. I am still learning a bit about the horse and will be happy if he returns sound and well in the morning
  • she pulled up a little scratchy after the race and I will have a discussion with the owners with regard to her future.
  • she is well and home and we are hopeful that she will run well for her syndicate. However
  • as I would hope he can race through the winter. GONE TO GROUND goes to Wolverhampton and has also been fitted with blinkers
  • although I think he will be better at 3 I hope to see more than what he has showed us on the track so far. Last night BARBIERI failed to deliver what I know she can

Quieter week ahead..... - 14th July 2009

Quiet day today with no runners. It gives us a good chance to get on and get a few things done here at the yard.

A very wet morning, the first Ican remember for a while here but it is welcome and will freshen up the paddocks well.

I wasn't unhappy at all with the run of PRECIOUS CITIZEN last night at Wolverhampton. After an early traffic jam she got caught a little deep than I would have liked and unfortunately got taken off the home bend by another runner before making some late headway again in the straight

She wouldn't have won but should have finished closer. She will now look for a 10f race though it very hard to find suitable races for this type of horse. I think she is one to follow if we can find the right race.

Tomorrow CHIEF EXEC takes his place at Kempton in the 9:20. He has a big weight to carry but has pulled up very well from his win. Drawn 1, he will obviously need some luck and it will be interesting to see how he handles Kempton now. He has been there before and run ok so I am hopeful.

At least this cooler weather coupled with the rain will help to settle the track there. Last time I was there was a very warm dry evening and the kick back was horrendous! I am starting to wonder if this has been the problem with the all weather tracks in Australia but I should not speculate as I haven't seen them there.

I have been very impressed with the all-weather racetracks here in the UK. As my first experience with them i have found them to be very kind on the horses and they always pull up very well after a run on them. Obviously they are all different in design and surface but generally i find them very fair. I have found Lingfield to be a tricky one but not because of the surface but the hill on the home bend. Our horses tend to get a bit lost on it.

On the sporting front, great to see MARK WEBBER take out the German Grand Prix. I think the season is set up for a great finish if we can leave the politics out of it.

I willl not go into the cricket in great depth.....I went the early crow on Sunday afternoon and have copped a bit over it. Sets things up for a lively Lord's test on Thursday where I will my make my England Ashes debut!

My 3yo son Harrrison is starting to enjoy his sport and I can't wait for the day when we can go along together. The girls haven't quite warmed to Formula 1 or the cricket yet. I guess its Hannah Montana next Sunday!
