It was a case of worlds apart over the weekend as here we had the chance to get a large number of horses out for the day while the Australia Cup day in Melbourne was cut short by one of the most freakish storms seen. Having seen the footage of the racing and the subsequent weather i spoke this morning to one of my old lads, Adrian Heilmann, who was leading up Arinos, trained by David Jolly, in the Group One Newmarket Handicap. The horse ran just behind the leading pack but Adrian described the chaos as the famed track was plunged into near darkness and the heaven's opened dropping hail the size of golf balls and 40mm of rain in 15 minutes or so.The races were abandoned and the course went into damage control. Lad's took cover with their horses, some got loose in the panic and were injured.
SUTTON VENY is seen below. The video is back to front but she's not bothered by the look of it.
