Divided loyalties this week as I hope for some rain for the horses but counter that slightly with my first visit to Lord's on Thursday. This will actually be the first test I have been to outside of Adelaide Oval so to say I am well keen is an understatement.
Tonight though, CHIEF EXEC lumps 10st plus at Kempton Park in an attempt to make it back to back wins. He has drawn the outside in stall 1 which is far from ideal but he will get back and be left for a late run. He has come through his win very well and given luck won't be far away.
CHIEF is a bit of a favourite of mine. After getting hold of him in a claimer, he gave me my first win in the UK which will always remain as one of the highlights. It was a cold night at Wolverhampton and I happened to be there on my own but it was a great thrill to have opened the account abroad.
Much to everyone's amusement we have no runners Thursday, I can assure you the cricket had nothing to do with it! Friday we send Vamos to Nottingham with a set of blinkers on this time. He deserves to win a race and William Buick felt last time he didn't quite put his best foot forward. Maybe a step to 7f may be the way to go but I'll try the blinkers first.
MEDECIAN MAN goes to Haydock after an impressive last start win. This guy WAS the laughing stock of the yard since he arrived as a yearling. He literally could not gallop. It was a massive effort to get him to canter. We gelded him, turned him away and he came back a different horse. He is still very laid back and would be too lazy to breathe if he didn't have to but is a different horse on the racecourse. I love this type of horse, who knows where he can go from here.
At the moment we are unsure where NEW LEYF will run, possibly Newmarket Friday but dependant on going. He found it too firm at Warwick last time and needs a bit of cut in the ground.
LAW OF ATTRACTION is in the same boat and we won't know exactly where he runs until later today. I like this 2yo, he will improve.
Saturday I am hoping FLYING SILKS gains a run at Haydock. He also has been crying out for a bit of cut in the ground and he has been balloted out a couple of times which is frustrating.
I will catch up Saturday hopefully with a winner or two and a few English wickets under the belt.
