That is the question everyone is asking at the moment as he travels to Ffos Las to try and make it a hat trick in consecutive seasons. I think he will and I also think he can get further still. My only concern is with him settling early on and getting into a tempo, if he manages that I think he will be very hard to run down again. The Haggas horse is the obvious danger as it is very unexposed but I am happy with my horse.
I won't be on hand in Wales but Coops can look after things there. I make the treck north to Newmarket with NEW LEYF and MRS PENNY. NEW LEYF returned to form last time and the conditions should suit at Newmarket today provided it's not too soft. It looks a very competitive race but he is in good form at home.
MRS PENNY has been disappointing since requiring a wind op last year but I am hoping some cut in the ground can bring about a change in fortune. The draw is not perfect for her as she needs covering up and it will pay to see the pattern of the day as to which path the field will take.
I was delighted, if not a little surprised by the performance of CHIEF EXEC yesterday. I could not have imagined him flying the stalls and leading over 6f at Lingfield to run 3rd at 60/1 but there you go. The Racing Post stated we planned to use his stamina by going forward. I would love to think we planned it but..... Age clearly hasn't wearied him yet and after a good mid year break he looks to be in good form.
PRINCE OF DANCE is a good chance to take his place in a Grp 3 race at Goodwood on Sunday. The soft ground should suit.
