Things just didn't go our way today at Lingfield. VAMOS anticipated the start prematurely and took a dive at the start only for the gates to open when he was on the way back. Once he missed it and was hampered immediately after that the game was over. He is proving to be one of those horses who finds a way of getting beaten.
YANZA was pretty disappointing though i was expecting her to sit much closer in running. To be fair i don't think it is her track and i won't return there with her. She needs to find some good form soon.
Tomorrow will be an exciting day for young LUKE who has his first flat ride for us as an apprentice on FLYING SILKS at Salisbury. The horse will handle the likely soft ground and is a nice ride for Luke. These apprentice races are always a little tricky to assess, especially in soft ground but i think he has a great chance.
I had a nice surprise today when i got a great photo of Tingirana's new foal back in Australia. "Tingi" was a good mare i trained in Australia where among some good wins she remains the biggest regret i have had so far when she was an unlucky second in the South Australian Oaks a few years ago. Her foal looks just like her and i look forward to her progress. Having not trained for too long, it is only now i am seeing some of the good mares we had with runners on the track coming through. It gives me a buzz to see them producing a good winner.
I will be preparing for the tears at home as my in laws return to Australia tomorrow and Kerrie is already struggling. It has been great having them and it is great for the kids to catch up. I do believe Tina and i remain undefeated at Trivial Pursuit.
