• we hope to see some improvement with him. FINE FINALE is our final runner of the day
• we have an early start at Lingfield this morning with YOU GOT THE LOVE. She will be assisted by blinkers for the first time today as her attitude towards racing has not yet impressed. We hope she will show a little improvement on her fourth racecourse appearance. TOGA TIGER makes his debut for the yard at Lingfield after time off with an injury. I am still learning a bit about the horse and will be happy if he returns sound and well in the morning
• she pulled up a little scratchy after the race and I will have a discussion with the owners with regard to her future.
• she is well and home and we are hopeful that she will run well for her syndicate. However
• as I would hope he can race through the winter. GONE TO GROUND goes to Wolverhampton and has also been fitted with blinkers
• although I think he will be better at 3 I hope to see more than what he has showed us on the track so far. Last night BARBIERI failed to deliver what I know she can

Normality again......... - 16th January 2010

The big thaw gave us he chance to get back to normal and use all the gallops this morning which has proved a big relief. Some much needed galloping and a chance to blow away a few cobwebs, bot horses and riders so it seems.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD! I won't give it away but suffice to say the Beatles made a bit of a hit about this particular age......

I got a terrific phone call from WINIFRED JO's owner, FRANK LEWINSKI who has just got back from a visit to family in Australia where he caught up with my family for a day at the Races in Adelaide. Seems as thought they had a great day there though the weather was hotter than Frank would have liked it, to be honest it has been hotter there than anyone likes it.

Heading off to the movies to watch Avatar tonight with a few of the lads after being ordered by all who have seen it that it is an absolute must. I will report my findings. Can't say i am a huge fan of Sci-fi films, well not since the original Star Wars (i was 4) that is.

Tomorrow we take IVORY SILKS to Wolvs and it looks a very open affair indeed. The pace looks good for us and the wide draw won't be a big problem given the way she likes to race. We need t open the account for the new year so i travel with expectations. She has missed a little work since the freeze as she is only one of a couple of horses in the yard who don't gallop on the treadmill. She is generally a little tricky at the best of times so i don't force the issue with her. I generally find you fight a losing battle with these sort of strong willed mares. Best to keep them happy and they will keep trying for you.
