  • we hope to see some improvement with him. FINE FINALE is our final runner of the day
  • we have an early start at Lingfield this morning with YOU GOT THE LOVE. She will be assisted by blinkers for the first time today as her attitude towards racing has not yet impressed. We hope she will show a little improvement on her fourth racecourse appearance. TOGA TIGER makes his debut for the yard at Lingfield after time off with an injury. I am still learning a bit about the horse and will be happy if he returns sound and well in the morning
  • she pulled up a little scratchy after the race and I will have a discussion with the owners with regard to her future.
  • she is well and home and we are hopeful that she will run well for her syndicate. However
  • as I would hope he can race through the winter. GONE TO GROUND goes to Wolverhampton and has also been fitted with blinkers
  • although I think he will be better at 3 I hope to see more than what he has showed us on the track so far. Last night BARBIERI failed to deliver what I know she can

Ivory at her best..... - 18th January 2010

I was very pleased with the run from IVORY SILK yesterday. Thing's panned out pretty well for her as the speed was good which gave her a chance to get into the race. The only negative to that speed was the fact the winner was also a benefactor. It is no shame to be beaten by a good horse in good form and i look forward to seeing how MATSONU......MASTUON.......MATSONUSOKOKI.......oh whatever his name is fares in Dubai this season.

Our main mission now will be to try and put some black type in IVORY'S page. I would think she will make a nice little broodmare in the future. She is tough, honest, sound, has a good turn of foot and a good temperament with just a touch of quirkyness, all the attributes one would like.

Being a Sunday i took my girls, Darcie and Larnie along for the trip which they always love. I have to say a thanks to the stable office staff for looking after them while i saddled up the mare and i know where to leave them in future. They were fed and watered and can't wait to go back again. Wolverhampton may not have been voted ' England's most desirable city' is this years poll but i have to be honest and say i enjoy going racing there. The staff are always pleasant and i can recommend the restaurant highly for a good quality and value meal (the food is always an important factor when judging the relative merits of racecourses) with a great view of the track. Richard you must come and experience the culinary delights before completely striking Wolvs off your list off preferred tracks.

One amusing by product of yesterday's trip to the races was the fact, with Kerrie going out with Eamonn's wife Oriana to the movies, Eamonn was charged with the normally simple task of looking after my youngest, Harrison (4), for an hour or two until i got home around 7:30. Harrison is normally in bed by 7 and is generally very good at going to bed however i arrived home to find that he had indulged in a couple of chocolate milkshakes, a packet of biscuits and had managed to negotiate a new football, cricket set and box of Lego in return for him consenting to go to bed.
