A terrific win by NEW LEYF last night and a lovely ride to instructions. Since being gelded he has really stepped up a gear making up for what i thought was an unlucky previous run. After a couple of seconds of concern at the start when i didn't think the pace was going to be adequate the field got into gear and allowed him to settle though we had planned to get cover and follow something. I feel he will be better in a bigger field with more pace where he can travel behind the speed and produce his good turn of foot when given daylight.
Interestingly we had a couple of feelers out for him from overseas prior to his first run back and looking back i think we may have been letting him go a bit cheaply. We are still looking to sell part of him if anyone is interested.
Tonight ACCROSSTHEUNIVERSE bids to show some of the form she produces at home. She has been slightly disappointing for mine as she is better than her form suggests. I toyed with the idea of headgear tonight and tonight will decide her future but if she puts her best foot forward she will run a race.
GOLDEN RATIO makes her debut and i expect her to need the experience but she is a nice filly and will come on when the turf begins. It isn't a strong race tonight and i hope she can show some promise by finding herself at the business end of things.
